The Inland Empire is Heating Up
Electrical News has found some people that love the heat! As the temperature rises in the Inland Empire Burgeson’s Heating & Air Conditioning sees a significant increase in business. Whether it’s service calls or new purchases, Burgeson’s is working weekends and holidays to ensure customers are staying cool.
Our Electrical News reporting team recently visited the staff at Burgeson’s to report on the status of the building industry in the Inland Empire and found a crew of more than 50 very busy people. Burgeson’s has been serving the Inland Empire and beyond as a highly respected family business for 63 years. Today three generations are still working at the Redlands, CA based company and proudly continue founder Elgar Burgeson’s legacy.
Elgar C. Burgeson was raised in Minnesota where he learned the sheet metal trade at Dunwoody Industrial Institute. During WWII he and his young family moved to Dayton, Ohio where he was assigned to work on special sheet metal projects at Wright Air Force Base. In 1945, “El”, wife Eve, sons Chuck and Ron and daughter Dianne came to Redlands for the health of the boys who had contracted polio. Burgeson worked at Fitch Sheet Metal for a few years, then in 1949, after the birth of daughter Janet, Burgeson’s Heating and Air Conditioning opened for business out of the family’s garage in Mentone. Eve managed the books while Elgar took care of customers from Rancho Cucamonga to the Coachella Valley.
In 1965, Burgeson’s moved to its current location at 620 Tennessee St. in Redlands, CA. Elgar’s daughter Dianne continues to work at Burgeson along with some of Elgar’s grandchildren (Brian and Kevin Burgeson). Eve Burgeson still serves on the Board of Directors.
