TenCate Expands Tecasafe® Plus Product Line

TenCate is pleased to announce that Tecasafe® Plus, a fabric made fully in America, is expanding its product line to offer full FR solutions for arc flash protection in NFPA 70E Categories 1, 2, 3 and 4.

TenCate Tecasafe® Plus is a versatile fabric made with inherent fibers; there is no flame retardant treatment applied so the protection never washes or wears out. The same fiber blends are used across the board to ensure that Tecasafe Plus is always the same high quality FR solution for all arc flash and flash fire hazards. The Tecasafe Plus fiber blend offers excellent wicking properties for enhanced moisture management. Moisture is wicked (absorbed) away from the skin and evaporates quickly from the fabric to keep the wearer cool and dry.

The latest innovation to the Tecasafe® Plus product line is the introduction of Tecasafe Plus Knits for use in tee shirts, polos, Henleys, etc. Available in three weights and three styles, Tecasafe Plus knits offer an excellent option for comfortable, lightweight inherent protection. A 6.7 ounce (per square yard) Swiss pique knit offers a Category 2 protection in one layer. Garment manufacturers debuted long sleeve tees and polos this August made of Tecasafe Plus Swiss pique. Also, 6 ounce jersey knit and a 6.5 ounce pique knit offer Category 1 protection. The jersey can easily be used as an under layer or tee shirt. Jersey knits can replace flammable under shirts to provide increased protection to wearers. And because of its wicking properties, wearing this layer next to the skin can also provide better moisture management.

TenCate Tecasafe® Plus is traditionally offered in a woven twill weave available in a 7 ounce weight as well as an 8.5 ounce version. The fabric is available in a variety of colors including ANSI 107 compliant Hi-Vis Yellow. The 7 ounce and 8.5 ounce versions offer Category 2 protection. Double layers of the 7 ounce fabric can be used for Category 3 protection.

TenCate Tecasafe® Plus is also available in a twill weave 5.8 ounce version that offers the Category 1 protection in the same array of colors for an even more lightweight solution to arc protection needs. The 5.8 ounce fabric can also be layered to achieve a higher Category ratings.

TenCate Tecasafe® Plus can also be combined with TenCate Q-8 thermal liners to create lightweight solutions for composites that offer Category 4 (40 Cal) protection for the wearer. Garment manufacturers debut 40 Cal suits made of Tecasafe Plus this January. The light weight of Tecasafe Plus makes this option appealing for keeping cooler while on the job.

TenCate Tecasafe® Plus offers the widest range of options for inherent FR protection against arc flash hazards.
