Engineered Products Company announced that its GFF Series™ Linear Fluorescent Light Fixtures (Gasketed Fluorescent Fixtures) were selected to light four levels in General Mill’s retrofit of its five-level parking garage. According to Egan Company’s Steve Curtis, the electrical contractor’s project engineer, EPCO factory-wired 320 vapor-tight three-lamp T8 GFF Fixtures with a flexible power cord and plug specified by General Mills, plus the necessary mounting/hanging hardware to speed cable-hung installation from existing pre-cast ceiling panels. He said, “EPCO’s assembly reduced installation time by approximately 20 percent. Cable hanging the fixtures from pre-cast ceiling panels lowered fixtures to improve useful light. The security guards commented on how the new lighting’s uniformity has eliminated dark spots.”

Replacing the 175-watt metal halide fixtures one-for-one is not only providing evenly balanced lighting throughout the ramp, but also reduces wattage consumption by more than half—from 225 to 100 watts per light fixture. EPCO’s fluorescent fixtures improve lighting uniformity and provide more accurate color. The light fixtures were pre-lamped at the factory using T8 lamps that double the lamp life and cut General Mills maintenance costs in half.

Engineered Products Company supplies electrical distributors with specialty lighting, lighting accessories, and wiring solutions that address a wide range of standard and unique applications.
