Durable Workpants Will Improve Electrical Contractors’ Productivity
Even the best electricians are often only as good as the tools they use. Blaklader workwear is adding another tool to the arsenal – pants.
With features like exterior tool pockets and kneepad pockets, the best-selling workpants provide functionality and durability in every stitch and fiber. Old, worn-out jeans can’t live up to Cordura®-reinforced workpants that have been used on the toughest jobsites for decades. Cordura® is an ultra-abrasion-resistant fabric manufactured by Invista and is commonly found in backpacks and boots.
All too often, durability and functionality features can appear as add-ons or afterthoughts to traditional workpants. Blaklader work pants were built from the ground up as a beacon of long-lasting functionality.
Blaklader’s kneepad system features pockets with a bottom opening to prevent debris from falling between the pad and knee. Pads secure into a fabric shelf so they stay in place as electricians walk, kneel, climb and crawl throughout the day. The kneepad system allows for swift transitions between working overhead and on the ground without the hassle of putting on and taking off constricting wrap-around kneepads. Knee injury can stem from abnormal wear and tear and years of misuse, according to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA). The efficiency of a non-intrusive, built-in kneepad saves time and can prevent knee injuries.
Utility pockets allow constant access to tools, screws and fittings without using a tool belt – even when kneeling. Blaklader engineered 45-degree angles on utility-pocket corners to make those last few screws easy to grab. The slanted corners also make the pockets easy to tuck in to under pockets when not in use. Stitching on the bottom seam of the pocket is raised to make these pockets extra durable and prevent tear-outs at pressure points.
High-wear seams are triple stitched and pockets are sewn with bellows to increase tool-carrying capacity and prevent tear-outs. Since 1959, Blaklader workpants have been continuously engineered to include both extra-long tool pockets and bellowed pockets for easy access to tools and supplies.
In response to the growing demand for flame-resistant workwear, Blaklader will be available in FR models in the near future. Blaklader workwear is available across the U.S. at leading hardware and building products retailers. For a complete list, visit www.blakladerusa.com.
